Talking Points:

I am calling to urge Representative or Senator ______ to restore funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its core programs -- AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve America, and Senior Corps -- in the FY09 Labor-HHS Appropriations Bill.

Since fiscal year 2004, national service programs have been cut by 11% despite the growing demand for high quality service opportunities. This year The Administration has proposed to cut several programs, including the Foster Grandparent Program, an initiative that connects 19,000 volunteers age 60 and over with children and young people with exceptional needs, by a monstrous 40%.
